Hills Road Sixth Form College

Posted on

My former college, Hills Road Sixth Form College, have put together a short piece on how I got into business straight out of education (despite not studying any creative A Level subjects!) Have a read of what I had to say below. INTERVIEW WITH HILLS ROAD ALUMNA JEN FOREMAN, FOUNDER AND OWNER OF 'CUSTOM CONVERSE'.  6000 PAIRS OF CUSTOM CONVERSE CREATED SO FAR! We are very interested in where your creative idea for the customised converse originated?  And if you have people helping you run the business or is it completely independently run? My first pair of customised converse were ...Read More

Whoopi Goldberg on Loose Women

Posted on

If anyone was watching Loose Women this Friday then you will have seen the incredible Whoopi Goldberg receiving her London Landmarks Converse live on air! The Loose Women team got in contact with me to get a surprise gift organised for Whoopi and they requested a London theme with the Loose Women logo, and for Whoopi's name to be included somewhere on the Converse. I thought the main logo would work brilliantly as heel tags and would also leave the tongues free for personalising. The finished pair looked like this and went down very with with Whoopi and the Loose ...Read More

Give 4 Greg

Greg has been treated for IBS for a while and his GP didn’t think it was a major issue. Gastro consultants and dieticians had confirmed the IBS diagnosis. At the end of October, Greg was experiencing some severe abdomen pains and vomiting that led him to be admitted to A&E. After an x-ray, he was told that they had a found a cancerous blockage in his bowel.  After further investigations, he was told the devastating news that the bowel cancer has also spread to his lungs and because of the extent of these tumours, they would only be able to offer ...Read More

5 Years of Custom Converse

Posted on

If someone had told my 18 year old self, studying hard for my A Levels to ensure I got into my first choice University before the Government tripled the fees; that in just over 5 years I would be celebrating the 5th Anniversary of my own business I would have laughed. This was never the plan! It wasn’t even an idea lurking in the depths of my mind. If you start to google ‘business plans’, ‘should I start my own business’, ‘is starting a business risky’, you are faced with page upon page of advice and tips, lists and statistics; ...Read More

Shoe Colour Update

Posted on

There is a slight change to the Monowhite Low top style of Converse. Previously the pairs were entirely white and this is the style featured in the majority of images across the website and social media platforms. In the past few days the stock arriving has been the updated new style which has a dark grey eyelet colour as pictured below. These now match the Monowhite High tops which have always had the dark eyelets. The new stock is filtering through based on the popularity of the shoe size (5,6 and 7 will be the first to switch). So for the ...Read More

2016 Update

Posted on

The start of 2016 has been incredibly busy with Wedding Converse growing and growing in popularity. I wasn't expecting quite so many orders to be placed in January and February but it does mean that I've reached the next milestone just over a month ahead of where I predicted it would appear... 5,000 pairs! Those of you who have supported and been following Custom Converse since the early days may remember these: The 1,000th pair which I kept for myself and designed with a Banksy theme. They've had many outings over the past 3 years and are now looking significantly ...Read More

New Iridescent Style

Posted on

There's no filter on these brand new Iridescent Oil Slick Converse! The rubber soles have a gorgeous pearly shine to them and would be a perfect alternative to the crystal toe options if you are on a tighter budget. The basic shoe style comes in at just £5 more than the Classic Low Tops. They have an embossed logo on the tongues and iridescent eyelets. The canvas has a silkier and thinner feel to it, slightly different for me to paint but it gives the same lasting affect for designs. The pair pictured are a UK 6 with lilac heel tags and ...Read More
